(DIY) Digital Camera Tripod

Well it's Christmas break for me now that the Fall Semester is over, so I thought, why not get some Do-it-yourself (DIY) projects underway. First up:

Digital Camera Tripod

Materials needed:

  • 3 stiff wires cut at ~1 ft (I used a sturdy clothes hanger)
  • Electrical Tape
  • 1/4" x 2" Hex Bolts (Bought at Walmart for a dollar)
  • Pliers

Steps:

  1. Start by wrapping the electrical tape at the end of one wire.
    • Wrap the base ~10 times
    • Work your way up till ~2 inches are left
    • Do for each wire
  2. Bend the exposed non-taped area into a "U" shaped
What you should have so far:

     3.  Take your 1/4" bolt and put a round of tape near the head making sure it is tight.                             (Sorry no picture)

     4.  Add one of the "U" shaped areas, with the previously taped part of the leg pointing away from the threads that will hold the camera.
    • Wrap tightly around 2 or 3 times.
    • Next, add the second leg, repeat wrap of 2 to 3 times, and do the same for the third leg.

     5.  Now all you have to do is continue your wrapping around all three of the legs until secure. I did about 10 to 15 passes.

And your finished! Here is my end result:

If you can't follow some of my steps, or want the directions I followed you can head over to this site (It has more pictures, and probably better directions): Pocket-Tripod
